Accordion Crimes

A hugely popular annual event, Accordion Crimes returns to entertain and amuse, hosted, as always, by the inimitable, irrepressible Jock Walton.

Tonight’s line-up includes:-

Two Grumpy Scotsmen and Slippery Jim; Michael Permenter (the 2022 Caroline Plummer dance fellow); Kathryn Olcott (Irish Beat Dance); Kay Row; Catgut and Steel (Anna Bowen & Mike Moroney); Iain “Mitch” Mitchell; the  Inch Bar session musicians.

From the pen of the legendary Jock himself:

“I play button accordion and harmonica and I sing. I have been in many bands since helping to start this folk club in Dunedin back in 1976. I have been doing the road show on and off since 2005. In the gig I play different sorts of music with different guests and dispense whisky to them. (A bit like a New Year chat show)

“Covid and floods permitting, I will open with Irish tunes from the Inch Bar session crew, do a couple of Scottish trad ballads with Mitch, followed by songs with Kay Row (great voice) and Mike and Anna will help me finish the first half. 2nd half will open with dancers Katherine Olcott from Irish Beat dance school and Michael Parmenter the guru of NZ modern dance. The 2 grumpy Scotsmen and Slippery Jim will be the final act doing chorus songs, Blues, Cajun and Scottish tunes. Expect the unexpected but there should be plenty of humour and banter as well as good music. Last year we packed the place!”

No floorspots.
