Lara Rose | Flying Man | double bill

Lara Rose is a Dunedin-based singer songwriter. She has established her style of indie-folk, using writing to reflect on aspects of her own experiences. Recently, she toured the nation as one half of the folk duo; Tall Folk. In January 2022 they released their debut album ‘Wiser’, recorded at Port Chalmer’s Chick’s Hotel and brought to life by Dunedin’s most talented musicians.

Lara will perform both her writings from this album as well as new works.

"Recorded in Port Chalmers by Tom Bell and mastered by David Glasser (Grateful Dead, Mandolin Orange) at Airshow Mastering in Colorado, this is as fine an album – be it local or international, country or folk or what have you – as you are likely to hear." - Graham Reid, Elsewhere

Flying Man is the stage name of Dunedin based Irish-born live-looping guitarist and singer/songwriter Alan Ned Gray. Flying Man’s song-writings sit in the electroacoustic realm - playing programmed beats, live looping and layered harmonies. Haunting melodies and infectious rhythms coupled with lyrics which tell stories from snapshots in time.

Alan has been writing music since he was 14 and was a member of Irish band Lucas who had a top 40 single in the Irish charts as well as successful tours of the US East Coast where they also recorded their debut album with famed multi grammy nominated Rob Fraboni.

Flying Man will perform a stripped back acoustic show just for the Dunedin Folk Club
