Thursday Open Mic Night: a warm welcome to all, 7.30 pm. Gold coin entry. Cafe open.

George and Martinette
George Warren and Martinette are a folk-pop duo who met at the Inch Bar open mic night in early 2024. They started playing music together later that same year, focusing on their original songs that leaned heavily into acoustic and emotional compositions. They were continually told their voices blended together beautifully.
George is a Dunedin-based PhD student, guitarist, and singer/songwriter, whose fingerpicking guitar style was self-taught. Martinette is a singer/songwriter and published author who also moved to Dunedin for university. Separately, the pair have released their own original music: George’s debut EP ‘Stargazer’ was recorded and released by himself in 2024, and Martinette released an album ‘Sweeping Statements’ in 2014 and EPs ‘Bittersweet’ in 2024 and ‘Bittersweet B-Sides’ in 2025.
Since joining forces, George and Martinette have played at the Eats and Beats Festival on Bath Street and the South Dunedin Street Festival. They’ve also performed at The Duck cafe, Cafe Santosha, and several gigs at Inch Bar.
This will be their second time performing at The Dunedin Folk Club.
