We have a range of events on our calendar...
Sunday Club Night: a feature concert every week (apart from some holiday weekends) 7.30 pm. Floorspot performers often invited from local musicians in the first half. Cafe and bar open. Usually door sales only. See notes on each night for featured performers or events.
Thursday Open Mic Night: a warm welcome to all, 7.30 pm. Gold coin entry. Cafe open.
Special Concerts - may be scheduled on other nights
Our venue for club events is the Opoho Bowling Club rooms, 80 Lovelock Avenue, North Dunedin

R & D
“R2D2”
Upcoming second concert by R&D: - since their well received “Coming Together” Folk Club debut performance last year. “R2D2” promises yet another wide-ranging repertoire of relaxed Rock-Folk.
Rob Piggott (guitar, vocals) and Denis Gibbins (bass, backing vocals), are presenting a collection of creative ‘original covers, - including songs by Jackson Browne, Neil Finn, King Crimson, David Sylvian, The Cure… etc. Adding their own sense of musicality, R&D re-interpret these songs to share renewed appreciation.

In the early ‘70’s, Rob performed in a popular brother/sister duo, and also in the group ‘The Victorian’s’. He was guitarist and singer for ‘The Public Convenience’, a good- time Dunedin rock’n-roll band. Rob (guitar, flute, vocals, actor) was a member of the variety troupe ‘Gypsy Roadshow’ which toured the South Island during the summer ‘74- ‘75. In the 80’s he was resident solo performer at Zouga Ballantynes restaurant in Dunedin for four years. Since then, as a teacher, Rob has made music in the classroom, and participated in years of annual performances by the Braithwaite Centre at KVHS.
Denis has played bass in bands since the early ‘70’s including ‘Third Chapter’, ‘Argus’, and ‘Mother Goose’, (-with whom he played professionally for nine years, performing throughout New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the USA). He was recently invited, along with Rob (guitar, vocals), and John Fielding (drums) by songwriter Stephen Young to work on new material, now recorded as the album ‘Heartland’.
Since meeting on that project, Denis and Rob have played together as the duo ‘R&D’, revising a variety of songs that they both ‘dig’.
