Triple Bill - Trillium | Anna Laurence | Pam Morrison with John Meddings

Trillium

Already well known around the Folk Club as performers and supporters, these 3 friends – Carole, Karen & Fiona – have joined together in harmony to bring a diverse range of songs for your delight.

Anna Laurence

Anna says "I'm a 17 year old singer-songwriter from New Zealand and France. I began my songwriting journey at 13 when I joined a school club and wrote my first song for a young cancer survivor. Writing that song opened my eyes to how much I loved writing and singing and how powerful it could be. Since then, I have taught myself to produce my own music and have released 5 songs - with a debut E.P on the way. I write indie/folk music inspired by the nature and people around me and often write poetic or metaphorical lyrics. I love sharing and connecting with people through my lyrics and hope that I can make people feel less alone."

Pam Morrison with John Meddings

Pam Morrison taught herself guitar in her mid teens and started singing at folk clubs a few years later. She began writing songs in her 40’s after discovering the fresh freedom of open tuning, then took up cappella singing in the late 1990’s. Her five-women group As Is sang together for ten years, performing at a range of venues and events, including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2005. She was also a member of the three-women Dunedin a cappella group Bird for several years. In 2015 Pam was introduced to the four-string tenor guitar while taking part in a workshop with Scottish singer/song writer Karine Polwart in Edinburgh. She has been writing songs off and on ever since, and hopes there’ll be more to come!

For many years, John Meddings has made a living from playing and teaching music, supplemented by running an instrument repair workshop. He continues to be in demand as a reliable and competent backing musician and has worked with many of the icons of the music industry throughout New Zealand and Australia. Currently seen out and about playing in the popular Dunedin trio Bare Essentials, John also plays on other projects from time to time and enjoys stints as an on-call player for musicals and shows with various artists.
