Committee News - bar, festivals, AGM, new speakers

Monday 29th May 2023

You will all have already read about us securing a more permanent bar licence for the coming year. Opening the bar regularly has proved to be popular and has been growing our social interactions. Please note however that there can by no BYO drinks on Sundays. The bar licence does not however, cover Thursday open mics. Another change is our Club email address which has been updated to info@dunedinfolkclub.co.nz – this is the best way to contact us with any requests.

Several of the committee are involved in detailed Festival planning as Waimate Winter Festival is this weekend which is usually a fun blend of Dunedin and Christchurch folkies. Our much bigger event “Whare Flat” takes a lot more planning so we’re well underway with that with a new look website https://www.whareflat.org.nz/ and artist applications already flooding in. We’re actively looking for volunteers to help out during the festival. There are many areas where you can lend your own special interests or talents for a few hours a day. Please get in touch or keep a watch on the website where we’ll soon be adding a volunteer form.

Please note the date for our AGM on Sunday 30th July. Any nominations for people interested in joining our committee need to be received in advance. There is a form on our website and there are paper copies at the club.

We’re hoping that everyone has noticed and is enjoying our new quality of sound from our new speakers at the stage? The Club has made this investment as part of our ongoing improvement plan for the facility. We’re keeping the Club warm and cosy over winter with many great acts and artists coming up. A great, warm atmosphere in which to spend your cold Sunday nights. Check out our website https://www.dunedinfolkclub.co.nz/ for coming events. These are updated all the time so keep in touch.
