Tom Cunliffe
Tom Cunliffe writes folk songs like short films; vivid, offbeat, and full of heart. Based in Auckland, New Zealand, he crafts lyrical worlds, with a
guitar tuned sideways and a voice that balances gravity with joy. “An artist hitting his stride,” (Graham Reid), Cunliffe has released four critically acclaimed albums over the past decade, touring them across New Zealand, Australia and Europe. His latest, ‘Spit Out Your Gum’, mixes left-field poetry with gut-wrenching ballads – songs meant for attentive ears, stories that come alive in the hands of a curious audience.
Cunliffe has supported a number of internationally renowned artists including M. Ward, Grace Cummings, and Reb Fountain, bringing his mix of warmth, wit, and slow-burning intensity to stages near and far.
