Theme Night: Songs of Neil Young
Neil Percival Young hails from Toronto, Ontario and was born in 1945. He has been performing professionally since 1963 and he is still wowing audiences all over the World at the age of 80! You may remember that he formed Buffalo Springfield in 1966 and that band also included Stephen Stills. However, Neil’s first band was the Squires (1963). He had a short musical stint with The Mynah Birds in 1966. But most of us know that Neil was an integral part of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, joining the band in 1969. After that, Neil set out on a very successful solo career, although, CSNY crossed paths a number of times over the next 40+ years.
The evening will be a tribute to the music of Neil Young. Members of the Folk Club will present their interpretations of a number of Young classic songs and some wonderful lesser known Young gems! The evening has been organised by committee member Kirk Hamilton.
